Things I Love - PB2

Whenever I mention this product to people, I am SHOCKED at how many haven't heard of it.  It's called PB2 and it's made by Bell Plantation.  Essentially it's peanut butter created from pressing the peanuts into powdered form, so you get all the good taste of peanut butter without the fat and calories of regular peanut butter!  It comes in regular peanut butter flavor as well as chocolate.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE peanut butter.  I seriously could sit down and eat half of a huge jar in one sitting.  But it has a lot of calories at 190 for two tablespoons.  It also has a lot of fat.  While it's mostly good fat, there's still some saturated fat.

So this PB2 has only 45 - yes, I said 45 - calories for 2 tablespoons.  It also has 13 calories from fat instad of the 130 that regular peanut butter has and it has no saturated fat.  What you do is take your two tablespoons of the powdered peanut butter and mix with 1 tablespoon of water (I actually like mine a little looser so I use a little more water) and stir it up and TADA!  You have peanut butter for lots less calories.

So I know what you are wondering - how does it taste?  Well, to me it does not taste exactly like peanut butter - it's not quite as rich tasting - no duh since it doesn't have all that YUMMY fat in it.  But for someone like me who has had to switch to lower fat and calories foods, this is something I'm used to!  I still use "real" peanut butter at times, but this is great for a snack or for when you are trying to keep calories down in the day.  It still tastes really good - I had this in a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich over the weekend and it melted up so well and was delish!!

I have this for breakfast a lot when I spead it over a banana.  It tastes GREAT like that.  I know a lot of people use it for baking, but since I don't bake, I haven't tried it, so I can't attest to how that would taste, but I've seen a ton of posts from people who have tried it and loved it.

As far as nutrition goes, it does not have as much protein as regular peanut butter, but still has 5 grams a serving (the chocolate has 4) and has low sugar - 1 gram (chocolate has 3 grams).

For me, I can get the taste of peanut butter without the guilt.  I get mine off of Amazon, and you can buy it in your local health food stores.

Try it and let me know what you think!!
